How to Run Facebook Ads for Medicare Seminars (Step by Step)

If you're an independent Medicare agent looking for a better way to generate leads, hosting local educational seminars might be one of the most effective strategies you can add to your marketing.

Instead of chasing down leads who filled out an online form, you're bringing interested people into a room where you can educate them, answer their questions, and build relationships face to face.

But there's one big challenge.

How do you actually get people to show up?

That's where Facebook Ads come in.

At Senior Sphere Marketing, we help Medicare agents across the country promote educational seminars using Facebook and Instagram advertising.

In this article, I'm breaking down the same process we use when building these campaigns for our clients.

You'll learn how to create the ads, set up your targeting, choose a budget, generate registrations, and follow up with attendees.

Watch: My Exact Medicare Seminar Facebook Ads Setup

Prefer watching instead of reading? In the video above, I walk through a real Medicare seminar advertising campaign inside Meta Ads Manager, showing how we structure and launch campaigns for our clients.

Real Results: 55 Medicare Seminar Attendees for Around $250 in Ads

Before getting into the campaign setup, I want to show you what this strategy can look like in practice.

We recently helped a Medicare agent promote a local educational event using Facebook advertising.

Here's what the campaign generated:

  • Approximately 130 to 150 leads
  • Around 70 confirmed RSVPs
  • 55 people attending the event
  • Approximately $250 in advertising spend

That's approximately $4.55 in advertising spend per attendee.

These results are from one event, and performance will vary depending on your geographic market, venue, audience, and follow-up process.

But they demonstrate why we're such big believers in local Medicare seminar marketing.

You're not just generating names and phone numbers.

You're creating opportunities to have real conversations with people who are interested enough to attend an educational event.

Step 1: Create Facebook Ads That Clearly Promote Your Medicare Seminar

The first step is creating the advertising graphics.

One of the biggest mistakes agents make is overcomplicating their creatives.

You don't need an expensive graphic designer or elaborate video production to advertise a Medicare educational seminar.

In fact, we regularly use AI image-generation tools to create our seminar graphics.

The most important thing is making the event immediately understandable to someone scrolling through Facebook.

Your creative should clearly communicate:

  • What the event is about, such as Medicare 101
  • Whether it's a lunch, dinner, or educational workshop
  • The date and start time
  • The venue name and location
  • What someone should do to register

For example, if you're hosting a Medicare 101 lunch at a local Italian restaurant, your advertisement should make that obvious.

Someone should be able to look at the image and understand exactly what they're being invited to.

Our approach: We typically create three variations of the advertising creative and test them. Over time, you can identify which styles consistently generate the strongest response in your local market.

Step 2: Set Up Your Medicare Seminar Campaign in Meta Ads Manager

Once your creatives are ready, it's time to build the advertising campaign.

For these Medicare educational events, we commonly use Facebook Instant Forms to capture interest.

This allows someone to submit their information directly through Facebook without having to navigate to a separate website.

The basic structure includes:

  1. Campaign: The overall advertising campaign.
  2. Ad Set: Your budget, schedule, geographic targeting, and other audience settings.
  3. Ads: Your individual graphics, copy, and registration forms.

When you're running multiple events, organization becomes especially important.

We name our campaigns using details like the event date and venue so it's easy to identify which advertisements belong to which seminar.

Another important setting is your campaign's end date. Make sure your advertising stops before the event takes place so you don't continue paying to promote an event that's already finished.

Step 3: Set Your Medicare Seminar Advertising Budget

One of the most common questions we receive from Medicare agents is:

"How much should I spend advertising my seminar?"

There's no universal answer because advertising costs vary by location.

However, in our experience, we typically see agents spend approximately $200 to $500 promoting an event, often with the goal of bringing in around 20 to 30 attendees.

Some markets perform significantly better. For example, the event mentioned earlier generated 55 attendees with approximately $250 in advertising. Other markets may require more spending to achieve similar attendance.

Factors that can influence your advertising costs include:

  • Population density
  • Venue location
  • Local advertising competition
  • Event topic
  • Your advertising creative
  • How effectively you confirm registrations

Rather than obsessing over the cheapest possible lead, focus on what it actually costs to get someone to attend. A low cost per lead doesn't mean much if nobody shows up.

Step 4: Target People Near Your Seminar Location

Geographic targeting is one of the most important parts of setting up Facebook Ads for Medicare seminars.

After all, you're promoting a local event. You want your advertisements reaching people who could realistically attend.

When building a campaign, we generally start by entering the venue's address into Meta Ads Manager. Then we double-check the location against Google Maps to make sure everything is positioned correctly.

This is particularly important when you're managing events in unfamiliar cities.

Our typical starting point is a 25-mile geographic radius around the venue, when the available targeting settings permit it.

However, this isn't a universal rule. In densely populated areas, a smaller radius might make sense. In rural areas, you may need to expand your reach.

The goal is to find the right balance between reaching enough people and keeping your advertisements geographically relevant.

It's also important to review Meta's current audience controls and advertising policies rather than relying on age targeting or other restricted settings that may not be available for your campaign.

Step 5: Write Facebook Ad Copy That Generates RSVPs

Your advertising copy should focus on educating people about the event and explaining what they'll learn.

For example, a Medicare 101 seminar advertisement might discuss topics such as:

  • Understanding Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D
  • Learning about Medicare enrollment periods
  • Understanding the differences between Medicare coverage options
  • Reviewing important considerations when choosing coverage
  • Getting common Medicare questions answered

The copy should also include the event's date, location, time, and registration instructions.

Remember, the purpose of the advertisement isn't to sell someone an insurance plan. It's to encourage them to register for an educational event.

We typically use a clear Learn More call to action that takes the interested person through the registration process.

Make sure your advertising, registration process, and event materials meet applicable CMS, carrier, and Meta requirements.

Step 6: Capture Leads Using Facebook Instant Forms

Once someone clicks your advertisement, you need a way to collect their information.

One option is using Meta's native Instant Forms. This lets interested people register without leaving Facebook.

From there, you can send their information into a customer relationship management system, spreadsheet, or another lead-management platform.

But collecting the lead is only the beginning. The next step is making sure they're actually planning to attend. And that's where many seminar campaigns fall short.

Step 7: Confirm Registrations and Send Reminders

Generating leads for a Medicare seminar is one thing. Getting those people to actually walk through the door is another.

That's why we place so much emphasis on the registration confirmation and follow-up process.

Once someone expresses interest in attending, you want to make sure their information gets captured and that your team has a process for confirming their RSVP.

You should also send reminders leading up to the event.

Your follow-up process might include:

  • Confirming the person's registration
  • Providing the venue address and event details
  • Sending reminders ahead of the seminar
  • Answering questions about attendance
  • Tracking confirmed RSVPs and actual attendance

The goal is simple. Turn online interest into actual seminar attendance.

For the Medicare agent featured in our video, approximately 70 people RSVP'd and 55 ultimately attended. That distinction between generating leads, confirming interest, and getting people to show up is extremely important.

Why Medicare Seminars Can Be Better Than Traditional Online Leads

Traditional Medicare lead generation often starts with someone completing an online form. From there, the agent needs to call, follow up, qualify the prospect, and hopefully schedule an appointment.

Seminar marketing creates a different opportunity.

Instead of trying to convince someone to take your call, you're inviting them to attend an educational event.

The people who attend have already demonstrated some level of interest in learning more about Medicare.

And because you're meeting face to face, you have the opportunity to build rapport, answer questions, and establish trust.

That doesn't mean every attendee will become a client. Your presentation, sales process, compliance practices, and follow-up all still matter.

But educational events can provide a valuable alternative to relying exclusively on individual online leads.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Facebook Ads cost for Medicare seminars?

Based on our client campaigns, Medicare agents often spend approximately $200 to $500 advertising a local seminar, depending on the geographic market and attendance goals. Actual results vary.

Do Facebook Ads work for Medicare lead generation?

Facebook Ads can generate interest in Medicare educational events, webinars, and other lead-generation campaigns. Success depends on the offer, audience, creative, follow-up process, and regulatory compliance.

How far should I target Facebook Ads around my Medicare seminar?

We commonly begin with a 25-mile radius around the venue, where supported by Meta's targeting settings. Depending on population density and location, a smaller or larger area may be appropriate.

Should Medicare agents use Facebook lead forms or landing pages?

Both can work. Facebook Instant Forms simplify registration by keeping people on the platform, while dedicated landing pages offer additional flexibility for event details and registration workflows.

How do you get more people to attend Medicare seminars?

Start with clear advertising, a convenient location, and a simple registration process. Then consistently confirm RSVPs, provide useful event details, and send reminders before the seminar.

Are Medicare educational seminars a good lead-generation strategy?

They can be valuable because they allow agents to educate prospective beneficiaries and build relationships in person. Attendance and eventual client acquisition depend on the market, presentation, and follow-up process.

Disclaimer: Campaign examples reflect individual past results and are not guarantees of future performance. Advertising costs, attendance, and business outcomes vary. Medicare-related events and marketing must comply with applicable CMS regulations, state insurance requirements, carrier guidelines, and advertising platform policies.
